Reiger Park Update – September 22, 2023

SEPTEMBER 28 UPDATE: We have officially received the MWRD permit and can resume the project!

An update from the park:

We have been getting some questions about the progress of the Reiger Park project and we wanted to provide an update. First and foremost, we appreciate your patience as we patiently wait!

As we mentioned around the Popelka Park opening, we continue to wait on a permit from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD). Without this permit, our construction manager can’t begin. The permit ensures that everything we are constructing underground is being done correctly to ensure that we do not cause current or future issues within the stormwater or sanitary lines.

With this update, we can positively say that we are working closely with the village staff and our construction manager to ensure that we are ready to hit the ground running once the permit is in hand.

During these capital improvement projects, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to ensure that it is done to the highest standard! During this process we work with other agencies that we unfortunately have no control over their timeline. All of these moving parts can often present frustrating challenges, but it’s all worth it in the end when we see the happy faces of Forest Park families as we continue to beautify the neighborhood parks! We will continue to keep you posted as we get some additional clarity.
