Park & Village to Receive IAPD Best of the Best Award

We're excited to share that the Park District of Forest Park and the Village of Forest Park are proud recipients of a 2025 Illinois Association of Park Districts Best of the Best Award for Intergovernmental Cooperation for the conception and completion of our Pocket Parks Project! 

Our Boards collaborated on the idea and came to an official agreement for the Pocket Park lease in November 2020. We were involved with Village Staff & Public Works throughout the process. With the official Grand Opening of Remembrance Park on May 24, 2025, the project was complete.

As we mentioned in the nomination, "this award is important to the Park District as it is a way to express gratitude to the Village. It also demonstrates the importance of collaboration in serving the greater good of the community, and these parks reflect the positive results that occur when agencies work together."
