CARDIO ROOM PASSES

As part of our commitment to healthy lifestyles, the Park District of Forest Park will be offering FREE Cardio Room passes to all residents 18 and up.  Stop in the Park District office today to get started on the road to a healthier you!  Must show proof of residency to obtain cardio pass.

Open to Forest Park residents only.

HOURS OF OPERATION:          Monday-Friday, 8:00am-8:00pm

                                                             Saturday, 9:00am-1:00pm

 


CALLING ALL ACTIVE ADULTS!

Active adults (61+ years old) are an important part of the community.  The Park District strives to provide activities that engage our older adults.  All of our adult programming is open to our active adults.  Our Cardio Room features work out equipment that is gentle on the body’s joints and has adjustable resistance features.  Staff is always willing to show anyone how to use the work out equipment, so please do not hesitate to ask!  If you have any questions, or program ideas we would also love to hear from you.  Please contact us at 708-366-7500.


ZUMBA

Join us for this Latin dance inspired cardio class. Instructor Marcella Caronti will teach you the basics and getting you heart pumping to the rhythmic beats of a variety of music.

PILATES

This exercise class concentrates on body conditioning.  The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises. This method strengthens and tones muscles, improves posture, provides flexibility and balance and unites body and mind while creating a more streamlined shape.

TAI CHI QIGONG

Enjoy a gentle, beautiful and flowing Tai Chi Qigong exercise routine that is both a joy to do and deeply relaxing.  Designed to strengthen the back and improve the general health and well-being of the practitioner.

This ancient form of Chinese exercise is a gentle method of simple exercises that is easy to learn.  It consists of a sequence of 18 simple movements performed with several repeats in a fluid, continuous way, combined with good posture and deep abdominal breathing.  Better health, fitness peace of mind and so much more, as your mind and bodywork in harmony for superb results.

SELF DEFENSE STRENGTH WORKSHOP

The techniques and strategies taught will bolster in mind and body giving you confidence.  Techniques will be taught, practiced and discussed in a variety of situations from beginner to intermediate.  Lessons and techniques are presented in a way that any physical skill level will benefit from the experience.  We will discuss and practice the secret to Self Defense that starts before any physical defense is required.  Wear comfortable clothes that allow a wide range of movement.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE

Ultimate Frisbee is a high-paced competitive sport that combines soccer and football with two goals on both sides of the field.  The two teams that are on the field are trying to advance the Frisbee across the opponent’s goal line.  Teams will learn the proper way to throw a Frisbee and play recreational games against their peers.  You may drop-in each week for this program.  PLEASE REGISTER EARLY!

BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY FOR DSLR CAMERAS  – CO-OP WITH RIVER FOREST PARK DISTRICT

Learn what all those wheels and buttons do. What is ISO and Noise? What are fast lenses? What is Depth of Field? What is selective focus? How do I stop Fast Action? When should I use a tripod?  After this class, you will no longer fear taking your camera out of Automatic! Wine and Paint Night! (Sponsored by the Park District of Forest Park Foundation)

The Park District of Forest Park Foundation will be hosting a special night out fundraiser!  At Wine and Paint Night, we make the atmosphere as comfortable and inspiring as possible by allowing you to share in an experience taking inspiring art lessons from talented, professional artists. This event will be a great place to mingle, and have fun creating some beautiful artwork; Perfect for a “Girls’ Night Out”, a date night, or a get-together with friends. All proceeds will benefit the Park District of Forest Park Foundation, a registered 501 (c) 3 that provides recreational scholarships for children in need.

All painting supplies are included for use in class: your 16 x 20 canvas masterpiece, brushes, aprons, easels, etc. Beverages and appetizers will be provided. Participants must be registered 3 days prior to class date.
