THE FOREST PARK AQUATIC CENTER - 2014 SEASON
Pool opens Saturday, May 24th at 10am!

The Forest Park Aquatic Center is the coolest place to be this summer! Whether you want to take a dip or relax in the sun, we have something for everyone. The Aquatic Center features a zero-depth 367,000 gallon pool, an interactive play structure, two drop slides, two flume slides, a diving Aquatic Centerboard, lap lanes, a sprayground, a sand-play area, a full-service concession stand and much more!

Dress Code: All persons entering the aquatic center must be properly covered and it is strongly REQUESTED that everyone who enters the facility wear a swimming suit. No one is permitted in the water (including spraypark and wading area) unless they are wearing a lined bathing suit and patrons will be expelled from the facility for failure to adhere to this rule. Clothing such as cutoffs, sweats, workout clothing, basketball shorts, leotards, etc. are not permitted in ANY water features. All shoes must be removed before exiting the locker rooms. Refunds will not be issued to those patrons expelled from the facility for improper attire in any area of the aquatic center.

Important Pool Information
The Park District of Forest Park uses a photo I.D. system for pool passes. All pass holders must have an individual photo taken and must show their pass each time that they enter the facility. People without their passes will be required to pay daily admission rates.

Family applications are restricted to members of the immediate family residing at the same address. A family pass consists of a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2 adults, and children age 17 and under. Adults age 18-22 may be included as part of a family pass only if they are full-time students. They will be required to submit proof, such as a validated school I.D. and a dated tuition bill. POOL PASSES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERRABLE. All members of a family must be registered for the pass at the same time. We cannot add on to a family pass.

In order to protect the interests of Forest Park residents, the following requirements have been implemented to qualify for a resident season pass or daily admission.

You must provide three (3) of the following to prove your Forest Park residency:

  • Children age 3 – 17: Parent/guardian must provide proof of a parental relationship/legal guardianship between the child and adult(s) applying for the pass.
  • Adults age 18 & up: Driver’s license/state I.D. will be accepted. Utility bills, voter cards, checkbook/bank statement, real estate tax bill, automobile registration, real estate contract, apartment lease will be accepted with a valid photo I.D. Aquatic Center

A pool pass is a privilege, not a right. Passes will be revoked if misused or fraudulently obtained. Daily fees cannot be deducted from the season pass if paid prior to the purchase of the season pass. A passholder MUST present the pool pass in order to gain admittance to the Aquatic Center. Lost passes are the responsibility of the holder and must be replaced to gain entrance to the pool. Replacement passes are $6.00.

Children under the age of 10 will not be admitted unless accompanied by a responsible adult 18 years of age or older.

Pool Closings
The pool will close if any of the following conditions exist:

  1. Air temperature is below 70 degrees F
  2. Heavy rain
  3. Lightning in the area
  4. Mechanical or chemical problem
  5. Attendance less than 25 patrons for an hour.

(Refunds are not issued for closing due to weather.)

FAMILY FLOAT NIGHTS
June 3, 17 and July 8, 22, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm - Come to the Aquatic Center and bring your favorite raft, float, beach balls, toys and more! Rafts may not be longer than 4 feet and safety checks will be performed periodically

CIRCUS NIGHT AT THE POOL
Wednesday, June 25, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Join us under the big top!  Come and enjoy circus entertainment, games and food.  Help us make this night the greatest show on Earth!

PIRATE TREASURE
Wednesday July 9, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm - Ahoy, mateys! Walk the plank all the way to the Forest Park Aquatic Center. We will be sponsoring a Pirate Night for all children. Keys will be tossed into the pool and retrieved for a chance to unlock the treasure chest filled with prizes! For children 4 and under, treasures will be buried in the sand. Coin drop, keys, contests and more, come out for the hunt and stay for the fun!

GAME NIGHT AT THE POOL
Wednesday, July 23, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Join us for a night filled with your favorite board games! Roll the dice and play along with us as we swim along side some of your favorite board game characters!

FLICK & FLOAT
Come after open swim with your favorite raft and enter our float-in theater. We will be showing two films poolside this summer. Pre-registration is not required; tickets will be sold on-site. Proof of residency will be required for resident rates, and fees apply to passholders as well. Fee for residents & pool pass holders is $3.00; for non-residents without passes, $4.50

Sharks
This class is specifically for 12-14 year olds. Class activities will be arranged on a session-by session basis according to the skill level of students enrolled. All students will work to improve comfort in the water, stroke development, water safety and games. This class is perfect for older students who are just being introduced to swim lessons or simply need a refresher but are too old for the Learn to Swim program.

Swim Challenge
This program is designed to help stimulate interest in competitive swimming while continuing to develop each participant’s stroke techniques. Those who want to continue in a swimming program after passing Level 6 Learn to Swim would be ideal participants for this class. Swimmers must be able to complete a full length of the pool with the crawl stroke without difficulty.

Diving
This class is for participants who are interested in learning how to dive and progressions from the land to the board. Participants must be able to change from a vertical to horizontal position in deep water, change directions and return to the side of the pool. Skills include kneeling, compact, stride and standing dives. This class would be appropriate for Levels 3-4 Learn to Swim.

This class is specifically formatted for younger children. Each session will concentrate on improved comfort in and around water, increased awareness, range of motion, safety and beginning stroke skills. Student/teacher ratio is small in order to promote increased individual attention and closer student/teacher relationships. This class is an excellent way to introduce your child to swim lessons in an individualized and progressive manner.

Tadpoles
Tadpoles is a water exploration class for 3-5 year olds. Students will learn rudimentary swimming and pool safety skills through songs and play. Parents may participate in the first two days of class, but the remainder of the session will focus on building student-teacher relationships and independence in the water.

Championship Swimmers - Competitive Swim Team
Championship Swimmers is an Illinois Swimming, Inc. and USA Swimming, Inc. Club, which operates year-round, training swimmers up to the national level. Beginning swimmers will learn proper technique and competitive execution of strokes. Experienced swimmers will increase their endurance and perfect strokes. Coaches are experienced, highly qualified and certified through the American Swimming Coaches Association. Practices are offered 6 days a week and allow flexibility for summer schedules at an average cost of $10/week. A free one week trial of the program is offered. Splash Party Birthday Celebrations
Create an unforgettable birthday party with a Park District Birthday Splash Party. What better way to celebrate than at the pool? No messy clean up or preparation to worry about, just provide at least one adult to remain on premise for the duration of the party. Chaperones and guests must adhere to the Aquatic Center policies and procedures. Fee includes a two-hour party during open swim hours, admission and rental space for 20 guests, a hot dog, small drink and chips (one per person), decorations, all paper products and a hostess to help out. Extra guests can be added for $9.00 per person (up to a total of 30 guests). Birthday cupcakes are available for an additional fee. Advanced reservations are required. Splash Parties are available on weekends only from May 31 – August 3 at 10:30 am or 1:00 pm. For more information, call 708.366.7500.
